Thomas Sowell On Immigration, short video, at libertypenblog.blogspot.com. It’s probably as simple as enforcing the laws that are already on the books, instead of passing a new law that won’t be enforced.

Study Finds Craigslist Took $5 Billion From Newspapers, by Jeff Bercovici, at forbs.com. I saw this at mungowitzend.blogspot.com, No one took anything from anybody. The consumer has decided that Craigslist provides a better advertising  bang for the buck than newspaper advertisement. These two professors don’t understand that loses are just as important as profits in allocating scarce resources to their most productive uses. Creative destruction is a good thing for the economy as a whole.

Advanced Crony Payment: Hillary To Speak To Carlyle Group Investors, at economicpolicyjournal.com. The Carlyle Group is not at fault. The fact that Government has exceeded its constitutional power, and intervened in the market, forces businesses to essentially, pay a bribe, either for protection or favors from the Government.

White House Picks Creepy Panel To Review NSA Programs. at economicpolicyjournal.com. O.J. will find Nicole’s killer before this panel finds the NSA doing something illegal.

School Has Become Too Hostile To Boys, by Christina Hoff Summers, at ideas.time.com. Christina Hoff Summers is the go to gal when it comes to this subject. She Wrote the book, The War Against Boys: How Misguided Policies Are Harming Our Young Men. When you start your  analysis from the premise that boys and girls are different, your chances of getting it right go up exponentially.

Progressives And Blacks, by Walter E. Williams, at jewishworldreview.com. Progressives and liberals should be considered covert racists, because they seem to think minorities can’t achieve to an equal level as these progressives have achieved, unless they are helped by these same progressives.

FREE MARKET CAPITALISM OR CRONY CAPITALISM

I noticed Hostess products are back on the shelves again in grocery stores. It leaves me scratching my head about how this could possibly have happened because I thought they went bankrupt. I remember when GM was going to go bankrupt we were told that GM needed to be bailed out to save the company and all the jobs, because we couldn’t see an America without GM. The politicians and the media were banging this drum as loudly as they could, leaving the impression that if Government (using yours and my money) didn’t step in to help, GM would go under and cease to exist. When Hostess declared bankruptcy, the politicians and the  media weren’t beating the same drums, in fact the drums were silent. I guess if GM was “too big to fail”, and Hostess was “too small to save”! Apparently the only thing that saved GM from going extinct, was the rigged crony capitalist bankruptcy set up (more…)

The Ponzi Scheme

The Ponzi Scheme (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

These are two articles each one having a video in which many of the economic realities we talk about here are discussed in slightly different ways. The first is an article titled Opportunity Squandered: We Blew It, by Charles Hugh Smith, at oftwominds.com, and the other is titled,You Are In The Ponzi Scheme Whether You Realize It Or Not, by Monty Pelerin’s World, at ecoomicnoise.com.

I know your  most precious resource is time, and each of you only has a certain amount of time set aside  to read and be kept up to date on what is going on. Set some time aside to read the articles, but more importantly listen to the interviews. One is CHS talking with Gordon T. Long, and the second is an interview with John Robino and Gordon T. Long. Both talk about how the printing of counterfeit money, combined with artificially low-interest rates starts in a direction that F.A. Hayek said “leads to serfdom and poverty”. (more…)

Higher education — Remember young man, your first step in the REAL WORLD is just 8 feet ahead. Best of luck !!! …item 2..Men and women both have different ways to get from A to B (2 May 2012) .. (Photo credit: marsmet471)

In a previous post, “Young People Get Hooked Into Huge Debt When They Take The Student Loan Bait”, we talked about how high school graduates are becoming debt serfs thanks to the Government. Lets analyse a couple of articles that talk about the rate of illiteracy for N.Y.C. high school graduates, and see if the evidence leads us to the same perpetrator, Government.

The first article’s headline is,” Shocker: 80% of NYC Graduates Unable To Read“. This headline is misleading. What is really being said is that 80% , or 10,700, of NYC high school graduates who take a test to get into community colleges failed to meet basic skills they should have learned in high school. But don’t worry, (more…)
