Why The Fed Has To Raise Rates, by Charles Hugh Smith, at The US dollar is the worlds reserve currency. This puts the Fed in a situation of trying to control the domestic economy and the international economy. It can’t help both at the same time. An action that helps one, hurts the other. The Fed is trying to use it’s policies to steer the economy. It doesn’t understand that economic laws are trying to correct the Feds steering.

Bernie Sanders Is Right: The US Is Already A Socialist Country, by Ryan McMaken, at Money quote, “..if a democratic socialist of the 19th century were to get into a time machine and travel to the modern United States, he’d be forced to exclaim “mission accomplished!”

A Resurgence of Intolerance, by Thomas Sowell, at College administrators surrender to students storm trooper tactics.

Free Speech, by Walter E. Williams, at Colleges don’t want diversity of opinion on campus. They want to ban free speech.

Learn Economic Nonsense From The Fed, by Patrick Barron, at Print money, print more money, print even more money.

Our Feckless Leader Apologizes For US ‘Role’ In Global Warming, at This is not from the Onion. President Obama used a quote from Martin Luther King to stress the urgency of fighting global warming.

Regulators Attack Dentist For Charging Too Little, at A Dentist trying to supply low-cost cleanings, for lower-income people, is told to stop by the Dental board after local dentists complained. If Government hadn’t usurped the power to regulate in this area, the price of dental care would obviously go down. The dental cartel doesn’t like the free market. It wants to use Government to prop up its monopoly prices.

Hookers And Blow: How Changing The Definition Of GDP Officially Jumped The Shark, at Prostitution and illegal drug sales are going to be figured in to the GDP number this year by the Italian Government. All Governments are good at changing the way statistics are calculated in order to make the Government look good. The US has changed the way they calculate inflation, unemployment, and the GDP. It reminds me of what has been said about voting in Chicago, “It doesn’t matter who votes, it only matters who counts the votes.”

SWAT Team Ambushes Innocent Man Working On Tractor In Driveway, at I saw this at Another example of Government officials abusing power, this time at the local level. Where are the Andy Griffiths of the world.

Third World Construction Techniques Without Machines, by Mark J. Perry, at These are videos of construction workers doing some pretty amazing things. I love how people figure out how to get things done. OSHAA wouldn’t approve of these methods, and I bet these construction workers wouldn’t approve of  OSHAA .

The Concussion Summit, at, and Congress Should Worry About The VA, Not The Redskins, at The President and the Senate don’t have the constitutional power to make rules in these particular areas. Decisions concerning the risk of concussions, and the name of a Pro Football team are supposed to be made by the people who are directly affected. Political do gooders are always willing to pontificate on subjects without being asked to do so.

Go Pro: Epic Zipline BASE. People do some amazing and scary things. This guys margin for error is very small.

One World Trade Lowers Asking Rents By 10%; “The Market’s Not There“, at The World Trade Center is 55% leased and the owner is lowering rent. So much for a good economy.

Hospital/Medicare Games, at, and Hospitalized But ‘Under Observation’? Seniors Beware, by Mark Miller at The same tactic used by the VA,  putting patients on a waiting lists in order to get on the real waiting list, is being used in another Government run health care system namely medicare. Nobody should be surprised by this because this is what happens when the Government tries to use legislative decrees to wish away the first rule of economics, scarcity. Health care is an economic good and Government can’t change that fact, as we have found out with Medicare and the VA, and as we all will find out in Obamacare. Read Incentives Matter.

Worst First Pitches. You Decide. 50 Cent, Cincinnati Mayor Mallory, Carly Rae Jepsen, President Obama,

The World’s Most Polluted Countries, at Why is it that the countries that are the highers polluters are centrally planned. The US produces more goods than any other country and it comes in at number 17 on the pollution countdown. Only countries that produce wealth can afford to clean up after themselves.

The Last Communist City, by Michael J. Totten, at I saw this at This is our heavy lifting for the week. Here is an excerpt from the article, “I’ve always wanted to visit Cuba—not because I’m nostalgic for a botched utopian fantasy but because I wanted to experience Communism firsthand.” Mr. Totten gives us a tour of a communist utopia, and it isn’t a pretty sight. Here is another excerpt, “In 1958, Cuba had a higher per-capita income than much of Europe. “More Americans lived in Cuba prior to Castro than Cubans lived in the United States…” Cuba was one of the world’s richest countries before Castro destroyed it…” Just another example of how central planning, whether communist, socialist, fascist, or crony capitalist is the road to serfdom.

Obama Would Like To Tell You How To Budget, at Where do you start with this video? The fact that the guy who has added 1 trillion dollars to the deficit on average every year since he became President is telling someone who makes 36 thousand dollars a year how to budget his money to afford health insurance is completely laughable. His Affordable Care Act has made health insurance more expensive instead of “affordable”. But what is more unbelievable about this video is when he chastises people for not budgeting money to get health insurance before they get sick because the cost of paying after they get sick is greater. Doesn’t the smartest man to ever become president realize that Obamacare creates the incentive for people to do the exactly what he is chastising them for doing. When an insurance company has to insure a person in spite of preexisting conditions, what does he think people will do. He is either ignorant, or just a politician.

NSA -Fan Feinstein Slams CIA Spying And Intimidation, at Senator Feinstein doesn’t like the CIA spying, and by default, intimidating congress, but she didn’t have a problem with the NSA intimidating all of us through data mining {spying}. She said the CIA appears to have violated the Fourth Amendment, which bars unreasonable searches and seizures, as well as various federal laws and presidential executive order that prevents the agency from conducting domestic searches and surveillance. It’s not OK when her constitutional rights are violated by Government, but it’s fine when yours and my constitutional rights are violated by the NSA.

The Devil Lurking In The Retail Store Closure Details, at 1) Technology has been a part of the decrease in the need for brick and mortar stores. 2) Spending on consumer goods doesn’t grow an economy. Consumption is an act of destroying what has been produced. Production is what allows us to consume. With the work force participation rate at its lowest since the late 70’s, less is being produced, therefore less can be consumed. 3) Stimulating consumption through Government spending, the Fed electronically printing counterfeit money along with a zero interest rates policy, created a false economic reality. Brick and mortar stores were built on false information transmitted through the economy by Government stimulus and Fed printing. Under normal market conditions these stores wouldn’t have been built. Because economic forces are always trying to correct Government interventions, these stores, which should have never been built, are being liquidated. 4) Fed counterfeiting money through QE’s and zero interest rates can only give legs to a false reality for so long before economic forces eventually bring production and consumption back in balance.

Police Use Of Force Drops 60% When Officers Required To Wear Video Cameras, by Jay Syrmopoulos, at Complaints against police have dropped by 88% and use of force by police has dropped by 60% in one year since officers started wearing cameras. So let me see if I understand this, monitoring people in positions of power keeps them from abusing that power. The founders gave the press constitutional protection to monitor politicians and bureaucrats for the purpose of protecting us from their abuses of power. When the vast majority of the mainstream press believes in big Government, they move from being a watchdog, and toward becoming a propaganda arm of the very entity they are supposed to monitor.

Lights, Camera, Arrested: Americans Are Being Arrested For Filming Police, by John Whitehead, at, and How Are Lois Lerner’s Emails Not Front Page News, at These are examples of people with Government sanctioned power not wanting to be monitored, in the first article, and not being monitored by the press in the other.

Venezuelans Marked With Numbers To Stand In Lines At Government Supermarkets, by Linette Lopez, at I saw this at This is the result when you move toward central planning, whether it is socialism, communism, crony capitalism, fascism etc, and away from free market capitalism. Look at this Graphic Of The Day: Socialism vs. Capitalism, by Mark J. Perry, at

Liberals Protest $100 Million Donation To Hospital Because David Koch Gave The Money, by Robby Soave, at Would these leftists be protesting if the Government had given the hospital a grant of 100 million dollars, money that was not donated to the Government by taxpayers, but was taken under the threat of force by the IRS.

Articles like the ones below tell me people are starting to understand the Federal Government is not just too big but should be rolled back. Idaho Legislators Vote On Emergency Bill To Nullify Federal Gun Laws, by Michael Lofti, at, Tennessee Legislators Vote To Nullify Some Federal Roadside Checkpoints, by Michael Lofti, at, South Carolina Democrats and Republicans Vote To “Nullify” NSA, by Michael Lofti, at benn, and Oklahoma Legislators Pass Bill Legalizing Gold and Silver Tender: Nullify The Fed?, by Michael Lofti, at This last article about legalizing gold and silver as payment of debt is the one the Government will fight against the hardest. The Government wants the Fed to maintain its monopoly on money creation because the growth of the U.S. Government is financed through the Feds ability to create counterfeit money and buy Government debt. They will fight this if it passes just like they are fighting against virtual money like Bitcoin.
