AFFORDABLE ENERGY?

Market forces are more powerful than the hoped for results of central planners. The most recent example of this is the boom in oil and natural gas production, created by hydraulic fracturing [ fracking],which is taking place on private land in spite of Government policies. Our politicians shut down some Government lands to oil exploration, and made the process of getting permits for exploration on remaining lands more time-consuming [costlier]. They used their power, and our tax dollars, to promote and invest in, “green energy”. Green energy was going to create new jobs and lead Read the rest of this post »

Media landscape (Photo credit: Christopher S. Penn)

Why has the media been dragged kicking and screaming into this story? We’re told that journalists can put their personal biases aside and cover a story right down the middle: but, if they don’t cover a particular story, we won’t be able to discern the truth about the assumptions concerning their biases, or are their biases revealed by the stories they don’t report? Here is a link to a story on the Blaze, which shows a video clip from Glenn Beck’s TV show, about the Dr. Gosnell story. It doesn’t matter what you think of Glenn Beck, the questions and issues he raises about the media, and progressives in general, and late-term abortions in particular,  have to be confronted.

Physicist Werner Heisenberg said, “…separation of the observer from the phenomenon to be observed is no longer possible.” In other words, how you think determines what you see, and when your thinking produces an incorrect perception about reality, it doesn’t change the underlying reality, it only masks it in your mind. At some point you have to change your thinking to fit reality, instead of trying to change reality to fit your thinking.

If the stories the main stream media chooses not to report shows their bias, how can you trust they are not being biased on the stories they choose to report?

Milton Friedman vs. Phil Donahue, Greed Is In The Eye Of The Beholder.

Hayek’s quote, …The battle for freedom must be won over and over again, the socialists of all parties must be persuaded or defeated if they and we are to remain free men, is never more true today. This battle Hayek talks about has been  going on constantly since the beginning of recorded history, and will continue to go on till the end of time. Watch this video of Milton Friedman, in either 79 or 80, when he was on the Donahue show, it is an example of the two different visions of how the world works.

Since we know humans by their nature are self-interested (greedy), ask yourself which economic system deals with self-interested individuals better, the free market or central planning? Read this previous post, Why Socialism Won’t Work? Human Nature.

“The Decline And Fall Of The New Rome”, at zerohedge.com, by Luke Eastwood. This article compares what led to the fall of the Roman Empire, with our situation today. You decide.

“People Not In Labor Force Soar by 663,000 To 90 Million…”, at zerohedge.com. The decline in the labor force participation rate, is not the cause of our economic slide, it is the result of Government intervention into, the job producing machine, that is the free market. Look at the graphs and ask yourself; how can the unemployment rate be going down?

“Tests And Tiger Moms”, by Thomas Sowell at jewishworldreview.com. Unless you’ve read some of Thomas Sowell ‘s many books about race and culture, you should never be taken seriously when discussing the subject.

And you thought Bush was a warmonger, watch this video,  it shows all the drone strikes and casualties, just in Pakistan, from Bush to Obama.

Spontaneous Order

Spontaneous Order (Photo credit: KAZVorpal)

SPONTANEOUS ORDER CREATES COMPLEXITY.

For us to understand how free market capitalism works, we have to understand the concept of spontaneous order. In this video below titled, “The Lawless Streets of Hanoi, Vietnam”, the man filming the video doesn’t even understand what he is watching. He says,”There’s no traffic lights to be found and everybody pretty much does what they want……It’s mad chaos.” He’s used to seeing traffic centrally planned by signs, signals, or traffic cops, and because of this bias toward centrally planned order, he is incapable of seeing the complex order that is created by individuals voluntarily cooperating. GOVERNMENT AUSTERITY

Austerity is what they call it in Europe, it means to cut excess or luxury from, which refers to Government budgets. We have many names for it in the U.S., sequestration, fiscal cliff, debt ceiling, etc. The question is who decides what is considered excess. Excess like so many things in politics is in the eye of the beholder, and when politicians have to make these decisions, the outcries of the people who are used to living off this excess carries more political weight than the people who work to produce this excess. So the politicians only option Read the rest of this post »

This article, “The Carrot’s In Reach:” The Myth of a Self-Sustaining Recovery, by Charles Hugh Smith at oftwominds.com, is a must read. He explains how Government spending is not investment but is consumption not backed up by production. How the Fed’s “legal”  counterfeiting of trillions of dollars is nothing more than a transfer of your production to the Government and the banks, in other words, it is theft by the two entities who receive the money first, which is the same result as “illegal” counterfeiting.

Here are a few quotes from the article.

in front of a credulous public:

The Best Video About The Second Amendment.

This is a video of Suzanna Gretia-Hupp testifying in front of Congress about our second amendment rights. The whole video is powerful, but her last statement to Congress is the most powerful rebuke to authority I’ve ever heard. She tells them exactly why the second amendment was put into the constitution by our founders. I wish we would all stand up to authority, like she does in this video, when they go beyond their constitutionally enumerated powers.

This testimony was about the assault weapons ban legislation in 1994. She was elected to the Texas house in 1996. The Luby’s massacre happened in 1991.
