Loading up the Nerf gun

These are just a few recent examples of…….., well I really don’t know what to call it. Make up your own mind, after you read some of these stories.

Cupcakes decorated with army men confiscated from boy,9, by school.

Boy,7, suspended from school after eating his pastry into shape of a gun.

Fifth grade girl suspended for having piece of paper resembling a gun.

Teacher threatens police action after boy shows picture of new air soft bb gun.

Biden, “no need for an “assault weapon”, get a shotgun”.

Colorado rep, Salazar tells women to use a whistle instead of a gun for protection.

Some of these are examples of people with an irrational fear of guns, who don’t understand that other people don’t share this irrational fear. Read the rest of this post »

Higher education -- Remember young man, your f...

Higher education — Remember young man, your first step in the REAL WORLD is just 8 feet ahead. Best of luck !!! …item 2..Men and women both have different ways to get from A to B (2 May 2012) .. (Photo credit: marsmet471)

In a previous post, “Young People Get Hooked Into Huge Debt When They Take The Student Loan Bait”, we talked about how high school graduates are becoming debt serfs thanks to the Government. Lets analyse a couple of articles that talk about the rate of illiteracy for N.Y.C. high school graduates, and see if the evidence leads us to the same perpetrator, Government.

The first article’s headline is,” Shocker: 80% of NYC Graduates Unable To Read“. This headline is misleading. What is really being said is that 80% , or 10,700, of NYC high school graduates who take a test to get into community colleges failed to meet basic skills they should have learned in high school. But don’t worry, Read the rest of this post »

Thomas Sowell, Human Capital More Important Than Physical Capital.

Thomas Sowell discusses the effect of foreign aid on human capital in the countries receiving it in this interview with William F. Buckley on his show Firing Line. It is from his book “The Economics And Politics Of Race”, written in 1983, (a book I highly recommend). If foreign aid affects human capital in the countries who receive it, how much does our bloated welfare system, and Government regulations affect the human capital of our own country today?

Quotes from the video about foreign aid, “..you are simply transferring the wealth that has already been created, but you are not transferring the ability to create that wealth……too often in foreign aid you are rewarding people for doing all the wrong things….you are subsidising irresponsibility.

Physical capital is the tools, machines, and infrastructure used to produce goods and services, which in turn increases the wealth of a country. Human capital is the knowledge and skills needed to maintain and increase this physical capital stock. Read the rest of this post »

Student Loan Debt

Students are being exploited by our benevolent Government, just like home buyers during the housing bubble. Home buyers went into debt purchasing a house, the price of which had been inflated by artificially lowered interest rates, and counterfeit money being pushed into the housing market. With little or no down payment, they had no built in equity. When the bubble collapsed, the principle amount of the mortgage was higher than the house was worth. These home buyers will be paying a higher percentage of their present and future production (salary), to the banks. Counterfeiting is theft, and the banks, with the help of the Fed, are stealing peoples production over time. Read previous post here “Government Intervention And It’s Consequences”.

Students are in a different kind of boat than home buyers were in, but they’re floating on the same river of debt which leads to the same place, serfdom. Read the rest of this post »

Purchasing A Gun vs. Purchasing An Abortion.

Let’s take a look at the differences and similarities between purchasing a gun and purchasing an abortion.

Both guns and abortions are goods or services which are produced and purchased on the free market.

When a gun is purchased, there’s a 99%  chance that gun will never result in the death of a single individual. When an abortion is purchased, there is a 99% chance the abortion will result in the death of an individual.

My tax dollars aren’t used to purchase a gun for someone who can’t afford it. My tax dollars are used to purchase an abortion for a woman or a girl who can’t afford it.

You can legally use a gun to kill an attacker in self-defense, if your life is threatened. You can legally use an abortion to kill a baby for any reason, including the mother’s life being threatened by the baby. Read the rest of this post »

Miss Carly Rose Sonenclar Performes “Money Tree” At Birdland Jazz Club.

Let’s take a break from what we normally talk about, because it’s starting to affect my mood. When I need an eraser for my mental blackboard, I listen to songs performed by this young girl whom god has blessed with unique vocal talent. I posted Carly’s  X Factor Audition Of Nina Simone’s  “Feeling Good”  after I saw it on EconomicPolicyJournal.com,  because I couldn’t believe anybody, let alone someone 13 years old, could be that good. I watched Carly’s performances on X Factor, her vocals were incredibly unique, and many times her versions of the songs were better than the original artists. She was humble, always thankful, well spoken, and didn’t have an ego, all of which are rare qualities in today’s society. Listening to her sing always puts a smile on my face. Here is a video of Carly singing “Money Tree” at Birdland Jazz Club when she was 12 years old. Enjoy!

Is The President, Pinocchio, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Or Just A Politician?

Here is a video of the President using the police as props in order to give him more credibility as he tries to tell us about all the dire consequences if the sequester cuts go through. Watch the video, then we will look for the truth about sequestration.

1) The sequestration was the presidents idea. It led to a compromise with the republicans during the debt ceiling farce in the summer of 2011. 2) He wanted to push dealing with debt problems far enough down the road so it wouldn’t interfere with the 2012 elections. 3) The Government will actually spend more money this year than last year because it will be a cut in the rate of government growth, not a cut in the actual amount of dollars the Government will spend. Minimum Wage Laws Create Unemployment.

Economic theory suggests an excessive minimum ...

Economic theory suggests an excessive minimum wage may raise unemployment as it fixes a price above demand for labour, although a reasonable minimum wage enhances growth because when poorer workers have more to spend it stimulates effective aggregate demand for goods and services. (Photo credit: Wikipedia) Read about what is in bold print below.

MINIMUM WAGE RHETORIC

In the State of the Union address, the President called for the minimum wage to be raised to $9 an hour. Politicians who propose minimum wage laws are trying to gain the moral high ground on the “morally inferior” people who oppose these laws, they are not trying to help low wage low skill workers. These politicians think that making a law mandating employers pay their employees higher wages, will fool the public into thinking they are morally superior to their opponents. They prey on the emotion of the public and hope the public will not analyse what happens when wages are set higher than they would be under unhampered market conditions. Unfortunately the consequences of the legislation turn out to be different from the utopian promises that the public, and the media, so desperately want to believe can be delivered.

MINIMUM WAGE REALITY

Labor is supplied on the market like any other good, but the public has been brainwashed by Marxist propaganda to believe that an individuals labor is special, and should not be subject to the morally neutral forces of supply and demand. Read the rest of this post »

Thomas Sowell, “The Point Of No Return?”

Is it possible to roll back big Government and reclaim our liberty, or are we at the point of no return?

THE TASK AT HAND

It is possible but it is going to take a lot of work and time. Brainwashing the public into believing that an all-knowing and benevolent Government is where all the answers lie, has happened over multiple decades. It can’t be rolled back in a few election cycles. The public has to be educated about the superiority of individual liberty and free market capitalism over Government omnipotence and crony capitalism. The education system, the media, and pop culture have slowly eroded Read the rest of this post »
