Thomas Sowell Tells Us What Syria Is All About

September 5, 2013

As only he can, Thomas Sowell sifts out the B.S. and finds the golden nugget regarding Syria. Hard to believe it’s political. The article titled Serious About Syria?, is just another gem that we come to expect every time he puts a pen to paper. It seems that our President is a grand master checkers player, unfortunately he is playing foreign policy chess. Here are some excerpts from the article. (more…)

Declaration of Independence (article (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

JEFFERSON’S  GEM

On July 4th 1776 congress adopted the Declaration of thirteen United States of America for their Independence from the tyranny of The King. I haven’t read this document enough over the years. I’ve taken for granted that I understand the meaning of the words Jefferson penned, but my most recent reading has revealed the depth of meaning  he crammed into relatively few words. I had similar thoughts when I reread the Declaration of Independence as I did when I read The Road To Serfdom by Hayek for the first time in 1993. Those thoughts were, “Oh my God, he’s writing about today”. Before we look at some of the words in the declaration lets look at what it was like in Colonial America. (more…)

The Great Walter E. Williams : The State Against Liberty

June 26, 2013

This is a great video of an excerpt from a speech Dr. Williams gave in March 23, 1991. It was over twenty years ago and sounds like it was given yesterday. The reason for this is that the battle in society has been and always will  be the same. It is summed up in the quote by F. A. Hayek at the top of this web site, which reads, “The coordination of man’s activities through central planning or through voluntary cooperation are roads going in very different directions, the first to serfdom and poverty, the second to freedom and plenty”. Dr Williams gives a great defense of liberty.

Here are a couple of excerpts from the video.

“Large amounts of liberty is the rare occurrence in history, and oppression in varying degrees is the norm….even in the United States, as Thomas Jefferson predicted, he said that “the natural progress of things is for Government to gain ground and for liberty to yield. “

“The average American is inattentive, apathetic, or sometimes or most often a party to the assault on liberties by the state.”

Thomas Sowell, “The Point Of No Return?”

February 22, 2013

Is it possible to roll back big Government and reclaim our liberty, or are we at the point of no return?

THE TASK AT HAND

It is possible but it is going to take a lot of work and time. Brainwashing the public into believing that an all-knowing and benevolent Government is where all the answers lie, has happened over multiple decades. It can’t be rolled back in a few election cycles. The public has to be educated about the superiority of individual liberty and free market capitalism over Government omnipotence and crony capitalism. The education system, the media, and pop culture have slowly eroded (more…)

Milton Freidman, Moving Toward Serfdom.

January 11, 2013

Not much more can be added to what is said in this video. This video I’m sure was made in the 80’s, how much farther down the road do you think we are today.

Here is an excerpt from the video, “We are getting what the public at large is asking for, and the public is asking for it , I believe, because they do not understand where it’s going to lead them, because they are misinformed and they are being led that way.”

We have to get people to understand that government regulation takes away individual freedom no matter how insignificant we may think a regulation is.

Canadian PM Poilievre Talks Economic Sense About The U.S. And The E.U.

December 28, 2012

This is the kind of common sense that Americans used to be noted for. It sounds like Mr. Poilievre is battling the same socialist thinking that liberty minded people in the U.S., have been trying to hold the line against for decades. I wish more of our politicians had the kind of brass that this man has.

0-3:40 is about the U.S. problem.   4:39-6:00 is about Europe’s problems.   6:00-7:20 is a must.

Here are a few quotes from the speech.  (more…)
