Electric Cars Are Doing More Harm Than Good, at zerohedge.com. Electric cars charged by electricity produced from coal, generate more CO2 emissions over their lifetime than gas-powered cars.

Does California Need Rain, Rationing, Or Prices, by Daniel Bier, at fee.org. Water is a scarce resource and has to be rationed in one of two ways. 1) By prices in a free market system. 2) By bureaucrats in a centrally planned system. Price controls and subsidies lead to water being used in activities that wouldn’t be cost-effective if market prices prevailed. Agriculture accounts for 80% of water usage but only 2% of economic activity. Market prices would get rid of inefficient agricultural activities, as well as curb industrial and residential usage. There is no chance that prices will be allowed to work their magic in California.

Stop Policing For Profit In New Mexico, at santafenewmexican.com. A house bill would get rid of civil asset forfeiture in New Mexico. The fifth amendment is back in vogue. Lets hope other states will follow New Mexico’s lead.

Cop Federally Charged For Paralyzing Indian Grandfather Visiting America, by Cassius Mythel, at theantimedia.org. Click on the article and watch the video of this incident. Excessive force? You decide.

Methods Police Use On Mentally Ill Are Madness, by Conor Friedersdorf, at theatlantic.com. Watch the first three minutes of the video. A mother called police and said her son was off his meds, and needed help to get him to the hospital. She probably wishes she would have called an ambulance instead of the cops, because her son would still be alive today. The cops immediately escalate the situation and the rest is history. Read the whole article it has some excellent points.

Kshama Sawant’s Next Planned Attempt To Destroy Free Markets, at economicpolicyjournal.com. The Seattle council woman who lead the passage of a job and business killing 15 dollar minimum wage law, now has her sights set on destroying the housing market by pushing rent controls. This central planner is hurting the very people she is claiming to help. Is she ignorant about the results of her policies, or is she doing this on purpose? It doesn’t matter, the result is the same either way.

Parents Must Sign Permission Slip Before Kids Can Eat Oreos, by Lenore Skenazy, at reason.com. This is on the permission slip, “the ingredients of the oreo is on the back of this sheet and on my e-board....”. We are going to raise a generation who are not curious, will never take a risk, and are easily manipulated.

North Dakota Vote Puts The U.S. One Step Closer To A Convention Of States, by Pete Kasperowicz, at theblaze.com. Cutting back big government is going to happen from the bottom up.

Cal State U. Deactivates Christian Group…For Seeking Christian Leaders, at tammybruce.com. When you try to micromanage every decision with excessive rules, there is no sphere of freedom left for individuals to make decisions. The result is this illogical, or insane, decision by some bureaucrat at Cal State U. Or is it anti Christian bias.

Local Indiana Station Ambushes Memories Pizza To Gin Up A Religious Freedom Restoration Act Story, by Tom Blumer, at newsbusters.org. Why would anyone think people in the media don’t have an agenda? Journalists got it wrong about hands up don’t shoot in Ferguson, the gang rape at University of Virginia, the Duke lacrosse rape case, Harry Reid Lying about Romney not paying taxes, the RFRA story in Indiana. Hard core progressive’s on the left and right, will lie, cheat, break laws, and destroy individuals in order to advance government power, and journalists play the role of the get away driver.

How To Win An Election? It’s About The Ice Cream, Not The Cow, by Steve Straub, at thefederalistpapers.org. Politicians understand that man is a self interested being.

Border Patrol Agents Contracting Scabies, Agent Who Speaks Out, Given Cease And Desist Order, at benswann.com. The truth about the conditions in these detention centers is what individuals higher up the Government food chain don’t want anyone to find out. “Because I stood up and told the truth they are going to terminate me and I am going to fight it” says Agent Ron Zermeno. ‘He went on to say that his bosses are more worried about their promotions and their bonuses than protecting the country’. No matter what side of this issue you are on, can we all agree that politicians and bureaucrats in Government have made a complete mess of the situation because politics trumps logic and reason.

ER Use Skyrocketing With Obamacare, by Ed Morrissey, at hotair.com. Once again the unintended (or possibly intended) consequences of Government intervention in the free market rear their ugly head. Prices coordinate supply and demand. but when Government policies incentivise demand and constrain supply, well you figure it out.

The New US Tax Form, at zerohedge.com. This is supposed to be a bit of humor, but the question has to be asked: if individuals in the IRS don’t have to comply with the law, why would anyone expect the rest of us to comply with the law? The break down of the rule of law happens incrementally over a long period of time, and then at some point the marginal straw finally breaks the camels back.

Finally A Loss For Socialist Kshama Sawant In Seattle, at economicpolicyjournal.com. Do Uber and Lyft realize this is just an incremental step toward more Gov. control, and not a win for the free market. Here is an excerpt, “There will be no cap on the number of for-hire drivers: We have deregulated a highly regulated monopoly,” Seattle Mayor Ed Murray said. It should be noted, though, that this step is far from a complete free market step. UberX and Lyft will now be part of a new government created cartel, that will limit others from entering the Seattle taxi industry. The city will only issue 200 new taxi licenses over the next four years. Taxi and for-hire drivers will see their licenses “transfer into a property right” on the order of New York’s valuable taxi medallions.” This reminds me of the analogy Walter E. Williams uses, This is like someone who comes into your yard, rips out your tulips and plants roses, and then gets you to argue the merits of tulips vs. roses, instead of you telling him he had no right to rip out your tulips in the first place.

Canada Pulls The Plug On Delayed Keystone XL Pipeline: Will Instead Send Oil To Asia Via A New Pipeline, by Mark J. Perry, at aie-ideas.org. How many jobs did the President sacrificed at the altar of radical environmentalism. These lost jobs are the unseen consequences that are results of every Government intervention. The benefit of the jobs and wealth that would be created out weighs the risk, not a guarantee, just a minimal risk of a possible environmental problem. The environmentalists are not willing to trade-off any amount of risk, no matter how small, for any amount of economic gain, no matter how big.

Yet Another Leak In The Establishment Ship, by Chris Rossini, at economicpolicyjournal.com. This information age brought about by technological innovation that couldn’t have been imagined 15 years ago,  is starting to over take the status quo propaganda outlets of the Government central planning crowd. News papers and TV news have been in decline for years. Now Hollywood’s influence along with the education monopoly are loosing their hold. As the article says, “this is a positive sign for liberty”.

Freedom Summed Up In One Image, at zerohedge.com. When I saw this sign, I thought it was parody from The Onion. This sign shows how people in positions of power will wield it, to try to control everything you do. They are smarter than you!

Leaving Illinois For Texas, by Mark J. Perry, at aei-ideas.org. Another example of unintended consequences of Government intervention. People are leaving States when the cost of regulation and taxes gets too high. People on the margin leave, and the with the next round of regulations the next group of people on the margin will leave, (as long as there is a lower cost place to escape to).

When Steelers Steal, by Christopher Westley, at mises.org. This is our heavy lifting for the day. Bastiat talked about ‘that which is seen, and that which is not seen’. This article shows the history of the steel industry through the lens of unseen consequences. Government intervention doesn’t happen in a vacuum. The affects of the intervention are like the expanding ripples from a rock being tossed into a pond.

A Typical Day For Southwest Airlines, at economicpolicyjournal.com. This is just Southwest Airlines shown on this time lapse video. What do the skies look like if all planes from all airlines were shown? Well here it is, A Day In The Life Of Air Traffic Over The United States.

45 Perfectly Timed Photographs, at induldged.com. These are outstanding. I saw this at angryid.wordpress.com.

Shortest US Graduation Speech Ever? Nobel Economist Thomas Sargent”s List of 12 valuable Economic Lessons, by Mark J. Perry, at aei-ideas.org. All graduates should know these.

Kshama Sawant On Why It’s Time For Socialism In Seattle, by Rachel Soloman, at kuow.org. At least Dshama Sawant admits she’s a socialist unlike most Democratic politicians and a lot of Republican politicians. She ran for office on raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, taxing the wealthy, and rent control. These policies lead to fewer low wage workers being hired, less wealth producing activities, and an artificial shortage of rental units. Socialism doesn’t trump supply and demand. I bet you can’t get through 4 minutes of this nonsensical drivel.

Why Some Doctors Are Bypassing And Going Cash-Only, by Susan Abram, at dailynews.com. Quote from the article, “I’ve encouraged those who want to do it,” she said. “I’ve offered to help them. Most of them feel trapped by the system. It’s really quite sad. They are not happy doctors. I encourage them to get the government out of the room…..“I had to do this to be able to do my job,” said Dr. Marcy Zwelling who has been an internist since 1987. “I get to practice the way I think I can practice best. It’s capitalism at its best.” I saw this at aei-ideas.org.

Time Lapse of the Lunar Eclipse, Blood Moon, April 15, 2014

The Educational Wit And Wisdom Of George Carlin On “Saving The Planet”, by Mark J. Perry, at aei-ideas.org. This is really good.

Social Security Stops Trying To Collect On Old Tax Payer Debts, at economicpolicyjournal.com. We can push back against government overreach.

Jesus Lived In A Police State, by John W. Whitehead, at rutherford.org. Excerpt from the article, “Unfortunately, the radical Jesus, the political dissident who took aim at injustice and oppression and was nailed to a cross as a warning to others, has been largely forgotten today, replaced by a congenial, smiling Jesus trotted out for religious holidays but otherwise rendered mute when it comes to matters of war, power and politics.”
