Must Reads For The Week 3/2/19

March 3, 2019

“The coordination of men’s activities through central planning or through voluntary cooperation are roads going in very different directions, the first to serfdom and poverty, the second to freedom and plenty.” – F. A. Hayek

Does Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Give Socialism A Bad Name? by Don Boudreaux, at economicpolicyjournal.com. Socialism produces poverty and tyrannical government. It has a bad name no matter who it’s advocate is.

Mainstream Media Blacks Out The Democrats’ Infanticide Vote, by David Harsinyi, at thefederalist.com. The mainstream media covers or doesn’t cover stories based on whether the story A) fits their narrative or B) they think it furthers their leftist vision of the world.

Tesla Slams Into Tree In Florida, Bursting Into Flames And Killing Driver Before Reigniting In Tow Yard, at zerohedge.com. Teslas are showing a pattern of catching fire (Click here Teslas catching fire.) Is the Tesla becoming the new Ford Pinto (read here)? Will the Media go after Tesla like they did the Pinto. Or is an electric-powered car off-limits to criticism because it fits the MSM’s leftist agenda?

The California Dream Is In Nevada: Golden State Expats Flock To Las Vegas Suburb, at zerohedge.com. Californians are fleeing their mini socialist State for greener ($) pastures. I hope they understand it was their leftist political ideology that brought about the economic conditions they are fleeing. If not, they will vote in the same disastrous policies which produced the economic conditions they fled in the first place.

Hate Crime Hoaxes: The Bad And The Good, by Walter Williams, at jewishworldreview.com. Her are the words of Dr. Williams: “This type of hoax is part and parcel of the let’s broad agenda of victimology, fraudulence and gimmickry, plus gross media gullibility, incompetence and political attention seeking. What’s so troublesome is the fact that despite considerable evidence that the incident was a hoax, no apologies have been issued to either he public or the targets of their malfeasance – President Trump and the Americans who voted for him.”

Racial hoaxes have been a major part of the leftist agenda going back decades. In 1987, the Rev. Al Sharpton created  the Tawana Brawley hoax, wherein four white men were falsely accused of rape. For perpetrating the hoax, Sharpton was rewarded by receiving national recognition, millions of dollars and a career as a television/radio talk show host, and he ran for president in 2004. He also received 82 invitations to advise Barack Obama’s White House on matters of race.”

Police: Michigan Gay-Rights Activist Set Fire To Own Home In Fabricated Hate Crime, at insurancenewsnet.com. Nikki Joly is a transgendered activist who is being charged with setting fire to his house in an attempt to fake a hate crime. He had to make up a hate crime against the transgendered because there weren’t enough happening in reality. Here is what I found out about hate crimes from statistics compiled by the FBI (click here). In 2017, out of 8,828 hate crimes there were 160 reported (.02%) against the mentally and physically disabled compared to 132 against the transgendered. Since there isn’t much national media coverage about hate crimes against the disabled we can assume the disabled are lower on the social justice ladder than the transgendered.

Nearly Half Of US Female Scientists Leave Full-Time Science After First Child, at nature.com. Many women are deciding they don’t have enough time to be a great parent and a great scientist. So they choose being a great parent. Choice reveals what each individual values more. Quoting the article: “this explains the persistent under-representation of women in jobs that involve science, technology, engineering and mathematics“. For years we have been made to believe that the under-representation of women in the fields of science is something that has to be corrected. Since every individual makes choices based on what they value. Statistical distribution of different groups of people in various occupations is determined by the talent of each individual and how each individual decides to use that talent. Aggregated group statistics compiled after the fact are meaningless (Except for their political use). Why? Because the group doesn’t decide. Each individual decides.

Facebook Whistleblower Reveals “Routine Suppression” Of Conservative Content, at zerohedge.com. No one is shocked by this. When everything becomes political this happens. Remember Lois Lerner (IRS) using her power to suppress the opposing political vision.

Cord Cutting Smashes Another Record With Horrible News For Big Cable, at zerohedge.com. This is an example of the creative destruction of the market. Individual decisions by consumers rule in a free market.

Your Phone And TV Are Tracking You, And Political Campaigns Are Listening In, By Evan Halper, at latimes.com. Politicians are colluding with their tech savy staffers to influence elections. They are using technology to high jack your smart phone in order to get their message out. Do we need an independent special council to investigate this collusion?

Colorado Moves To Bypass Electoral College To Stop Trump: Will Assign Electoral Votes To Popular Vote Winner, at zerohedge.com. When you don’t get your way, I guess your only option is to change the rules instead of figuring out how win within those rules.

Biological Male Is Top-Ranked NCAA Women’s Track Star, at theburningplatform.com. The country has given in to insanity. Common sense is being sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.

Dianne Feinstein Snaps At Group Of Environmental Activist Children, at zerohedge.com. This is an example of children being used to advance a political cause. Why would we listen to children about issues when they only know what they are taught in indoctrination camps known as our education system. I like how Dianne Feinstein handled this.

Why Capitalism Is The Answer To Environmental Concerns About “Overpopulation”, at mises.org. Excerpt from the article: “As the world’s population grows, markets respond to increased demand for necessities, like food and energy, by changing prices and incentivizing producers to either produce more of that demanded good or explore new and innovative ways to extract resources, leading to greater and more efficient overall production. Contrary to the predictions of the doomsayers, food prices have dropped enormously in the last century. In India alone, food production has nearly quadrupled since the 1960s. Other resources, like energy, metals and timber, have also enjoyed massive boosts in production, all enabled by global economic growth.”

Massachusetts And New York Settle For Expensive Offshore Wind, by instituteforenergyresearch.com. These two mini socialist states are going to force the  exchange of higher cost “green”energy for low cost carbon based energy. The result of this politically correct decision will be higher prices on electricity and everything else, since electricity is used to produce everything. Less efficient production methods means a gradual lowering of the standard of living.

Climate Scare Never About Honest Science Reporting, by Larry Bell, at cfact.org. Excerpt from the article:

“Virtually all contrived climate hysteria and human CO2 shaming is based upon consistently failed alarmist theoretical model predictions. As Kevin Trenberth lead author of 2001 and 2007 IPCC report chapters candidly admitted in a 2007 journal Nature.com “Predictions of Climate” article,” None of the models used by the IPCC are initialized to the observed state and none of the climate states in the models correspond even remotely to the current observed state.”

“Some climate modeling data is bogusly biased. As Peter Thorne of the U.K. Met Office wrote in emails released in the Climategate scandal, “Observations do not show rising temperatures throughout the tropical troposphere unless you accept one single study and approach and discount a wealth of others. This is just downright dangerous. We need to communicate the uncertainty and be honest.”

“Thorne also prudently observed, “I also think the science is being manipulated to put a political spin on it which for all our sakes might not be too clever in the long run.

Why My Wife And I Decided To Abort Our Unborn Gay Son, by Stephan Levedas, at thefederalist.com. Stephan Levedas is taking the Pro-Choice arguments to their logical conclusion in this article.

Pope Francis’ Summit On Clerical Sexual Abuse Was A Charade, by John D. Davidson, at thefederalist.com. When any institution becomes a top heavy bureaucracy, the bureaucracy has to be defended against all attacks. No matter the cost.
