King Of The Washington Swamp This Month? Big Ethanol. by Mark J. Perry, at carpediemblog. These ethanol mandates reduce fuel mileage, increase the cost of a gas, shortens engine life and increase pollution. So why is ethanol still mandated? Ask Republican Senators Grassley and Ernst of Iowa. They are protecting their self interest at the expense of the rest of us.

Insider Trading Inc: Beat The Market, Work For The SEC, at zerohedge.com. Are government employees of the Securities and Exchange Commission benefiting from their knowledge of which companies are going be investigated? It must be one of the perks of being a “public servant”.

Victory IRS Admits Tea Party, Other Conservative Groups Were Targets During Obama Era, by Jay Sekulow, at foxnews.com. Why wasn’t this a bigger story? Because we the people forget after six plus years of this mess. A balloon can’t burst when there is no air left in it. The air in this balloon was gradually released over time because bureaucratic insiders working for government agencies can deny deny deny, use every legal tactic to delay complying with judges orders, have the ability to fight using unlimited taxpayer funded resources and benefit from the Obama administration and the media propagandizing for them. It pays to be an insider backed by the force of government.

How Defense-Contractor CEOs Get Rich On The Taxpayers’ Dime, by William D. Hartung, at mises.org. There is waste and corruption whenever there is a pile of taxpayer money to be spent. It wouldn’t be difficult to find 15% waste in any government budget just for starters. The Pentagon budget is no exception.

Dying Malls Increasingly Rely On Taxpayer Handouts For Survival, at zerohedge.com. Another example of bureaucrats at all levels of government propping up failed business models at taxpayers expense. An economy is about profits and losses. Profits tell businesses that people in the market like what they produce. Losses tell businesses that people don’t like what they produce, so stop wasting scarce resources by continuing to do what you’re doing. Subsidizing unprofitable businesses makes us poorer overall.

Tesla’s Having The Worst Day Ever As GOP Tax Plan Calls For Axing Electric Car Subsidies, at zerohedge.com. Speaking of failed businesses being propped up by taxpayer dollars! I think Elon Musk is laundering taxpayer money through Tesla with the approval of government politicians and bureaucrats. Musk’s company is loosing money with the benefit of taxpayer subsidies. What will happen to his bottom line if these subsidies are done away with under the new GOP tax plan? Of will he be able to pay off enough politicians to keep his subsidy.

Compelled Speech, at lewrockwell.com. Government licensing laws can be used to get you to comply with politically correct speech. If you don’t comply they will take away your license to work.

Concealed Carry On The March, Scott McPherson, at mises.org. Excerpt from the article: “In 2016 Gallup found that the number of Americans supporting a handgun ban had dropped to just twenty-three percent – about one in five. Blacks, women, and Millennials are the fastest growing groups of new gun-owners, belying the stereotype that only old white males care about guns. A major cultural shift is taking place. More than ever, Americans are arming themselves against criminals and madmen in the modern era.”

Spain Order Jailing Of Catalan Leaders: ‘What Happens Next’ To Puigdemont?, at zerohedge.com. What happens when Catalan secession can’t be settled by legal or peaceful means?

“It’s Not Sustainable” – Sacramento Lashes Our At Calpers After Raising Pension Payments, at zerohedge.com. At some point economic reality will correct this problem. (California can’t secede. It needs the rest of the country to bail them out when economic reality hits.)

Forestry Regulations Ignite More California Wildfires, by Larry Bell, at cfact.org. The unintended consequences of misguided green policies adopted by the Federal government.

California’s Clean-Energy Future: A ‘Medieval Society’?, by Kerry Jackson, at cfact.org. Politicians make policies with no thought of their economic consequences. Government decrees can’t do away with economic laws. Economic laws always prevail.

Women Should Stop Insisting Men Are Bad Because Of Sexual Tension, by D.C. McAllister, at thefederalist.com. Excerpt from the article: “Like many women in the #MeToo campaign, I know sexual harassment. I know sexual assault. I know rape. Because of this, I’m not more prone to accept abusive behavior from men…… nor am I prone to conclude that all men are predators. I refuse to live in that kind of fear or to cast wide that net of blame. To do so only leads to dysfunction….. the common sense instruction I’ve received from wise women throughout my life have, instead, empowered me to navigate the waters of male sexuality with discernment and confidence.”

“I know when a man is violating me and when he is just hitting on me. I know when a man is desperately trying to get my attention just because he is attracted to me, and when he has crossed the line of harassment. I know when guys are expressing their pent-up aggression and male sexuality—as well as their competitive nature—as they interact with one another, and when men are in gang-like mode and threatening my well-being.”

“Other women need to learn the same…… They need to meet masculinity toe to toe and eye to eye, not try to dominate it or diminish it. They need to learn to tap into their own feminine powers, not to conquer a man, but to respect him. To do that, we need to respect each other. This involves trust.”

“The problems we are facing today have nothing to do with masculinity, and everything to do with a breakdown in social trust. Women live in fear of men, and men live in resentment of women. We aren’t dancing. We’re fighting. I hope we can learn to dance again—a powerful, breathtaking dance that makes us feel alive, complete, and fully human.”

Love Your Heart? Eat Chocolate, by Joseph Mercola, at lewrockwell.com. Lets start with something that not only makes me happy, it also satisfies my confirmation bias. Chocolate is good for me! Excerpt from the article: “According to a recent study in Denmark, people who consume cocoa one to three times a month were about 10 percent less likely to be diagnosed with AFib, compared to people who ate chocolate less than once a month.”  By my calculation if I consume cocoa 30 times a month I will be 100 percent less likely to be diagnosed with AFib.

How Dumb Is The Fed? at zerohedge.com. Excerpt from the article: “….the boom of 09-17 was wrought by the Fed and paid for with fake money. It is a classic credit bubble, in other words – not genuine prosperity…..All the bubbly action… is in the financial markets, not the real main street economy. And as the Austrian School economists tell us, every boom not financed on real savings must end in a bust…..Nothing comes from nothing. Fake money produces fake prosperity. Take away the fake money… and the fake prosperity goes “poof,” too. Which is why the Fed will never, voluntarily, stop manipulating prices. It can’t let the markets return to “normal” price discovery…..All of this debt now hangs on the feeble reed of more ultra-low interest rate policies. The Fed says it is going to return its interest rate policy back to normal……No chance. It’s not that dumb.

Doctors Are Fighting To Treat Charlie Gard. Will The UK Let Them? by Arina Grossu, at thefederalist.com. This is what government-run healthcare looks like. The UK supreme court won’t allow the parents of this child to seek  treatment in the US, even though the UK won’t be on the hook for the cost of any treatments. The problem with government-run healthcare is, who makes decisions about your care? You or the government? Trust me it’s not going to be you. In totally government-run healthcare system, you are owned by the State.

Rand Paul: The Senate GOP Is Going To Keep Obamacare, at economicpolicyjournal.com. Is anyone surprised by this? No! Because the leadership of the GOP is biased toward the status quo of big government. The only way to get rid of Obamacare is to get rid of the leadership of the Republican party. Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan should be replaced by Rand Paul and Thomas Massie.

Illinois “Budget Deal” Is Likely The Death Knell For The State’s $130 Billion Underfunded Pensions, at zerohedge.com. Bernie Madoff went to jail for his Ponzi scheme. These bureaucrats and politicians won’t spend a day in jail for doing the same thing Bernie Madoff did. Excerpt from the article: “…One of the ways Illinois managed to “fix” its budget crisis was to kick the can down the road on their future pension funding requirements….pensions which are only funded 35% as it is. How did they do it? …they simply decided to continue modeling future returns at a much higher rate than they’ll ever be able to reasonably achieve……In short they tweaked one simple number and, like magic, your whole funding crisis “disappears”.” Manipulating data? That’s what the global warming pretenders have been doing for decades.

Real Climate Science Shows Trump Was Right To Exit Paris, at whatsupwiththat.com. Excerpt from the article: “In actual intent and practice, the Paris Agreement is a political tool for suppressing growth, instituting global governance over energy use and economic growth, and redistributing wealth.”

Maureen Dowd: Economic Illiterate, at economicpolicyjournal.com. The reason I posted this is to get you to understand that you don’t have to take a back seat to the likes of Maureen Dowd, or any other supposed intelligent progressives in positions of “authority”, when it comes to understanding economics. Reading my site allows you to understand basic economics at a higher level than people with credentialed ignorance, like Maureen Dowd.

Mizzou Says 35% Decline In Enrollment Due To 2015 Protests, at tammybruce.com. This shows people are paying attention to the actions of the crazy leftists, and these actions have consequences. Regular people couldn’t relate to the craziness of these protesters, and many are deciding Mizzou isn’t the place for them.

Majoring In Unemployment: Ohio Wesleyan To Launch “Social Justice Major” at tammybruce.com. Why would anyone go into debt to get a Social Justice degree? If you can get a job with this degree, will the job you get allow you to pay back the debt and have a high standard of living? At some point economic reality will destroy these kinds of degrees.

Delta Doesn’t Like Competition From Subsidized Gulf Carriers But US Consumers Should Be Thankful for The Foreign Aid, by Mark J. Perry, at carpediemblog.com. Delta is a crony capitalist business. It doesn’t like competition. It wants the government to protect it from competition.

The Other Side Of “Safety“, at ericpetersautos.com. Is the technology produced by imperfect human beings perfect? Excerpt from the article: “Technology never makes mistakes – unlike the humans who design it. Who never fail to anticipate the unanticipated. Sarcasm, in case you didn’t pick up on it. This 190 prof moonshine – distilled by arrogant technocrats like Elon Musk – is going to get people hurt as automated-driving technology comes online.” Is new safety aid technology in newer cars really safe?

NYT Laments Sharp Decline In Illegal Immigration Under Trump, at tammybruce.com. Who would have thought that stating you are going to enforce the laws, and then actually enforcing the laws, would be a deterrent? I heard someone say it isn’t Trump who is the deterrent, it is the media’s constant portrayal of him as an evil SOB, that is making illegals afraid to come here.

The Real First Responders, at lewrockwell.com. Always remember that in every situation, you are the first responder. Observing what’s going on around you (situational awareness) is the key to being a good first responder.

Quote Of The Day: “Venezuela Must Deepen Socialism To Improve Economy” – President Maduro, at zerohedge.com. Moving toward socialism has created mile long lines for basic goods like toothpaste, toiled paper, and soap. So the obvious solution is to blame whats left of the private sector, and implement more central planning.

Shortages In Venezuela Have Created A New Profession: Getting Paid To Stand In Line To purchase Things For Other People, at dailymail.co.uk. Standing in line is one way scarce resources are rationed in a centrally planned economy. Who says Government intervention can’t create real jobs?

Did “Stealing From Americans” Just Stop? AG Holder Moves To End Civil Asset Forfeiture, at zerohedge.com. Thank you AG Holder for upholding the constitution, probably for the first time in your career.

What 4th Amendment? Police Across America Are Using Radars To See Inside Peoples Homes, at zerohedge.com. AG Holder, now that your on a roll, do something about this violation of our constitutional rights. Reattach the chains of the constitution around the neck of Government.

Bill Proposed To Allow Voting Without US Citizenship, at zerohedge.com. The 15th amendment says, “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.” It’s clear that only citizens have the right to vote, it doesn’t mention anything about non citizens right to vote being denied or abridged.

Obama Administration Won’t Let Hobby Lobby Decision Apply To Religious Groups, by John Lott, at johnrlott.blogspot.com. Big Government bureaucrats will not allow anybody to escape their tyrannical mandates without paying a heavy price. These same politicians and bureaucrats don’t have to comply with the Obamacare mandates they forced on us.

Maryland Parents Investigated For Letting Their Children Walk Home Alone, by Hanna Rosin, at slate.com. Whose decision should this be? The parents, who know the children best, or a nanny state bureaucrat who doesn’t.

There’s No Inflation Unless You Eat, Heat Your Home, Get Sick, Travel, Go To School Mail Letters, Or Do Your Taxes, at lewrockwell.com. Look at the price increases on all of the items listed in this article.

Questions And Answers On The Individual Shared Responsibility Provision, irs.govaffordablecareact. I love bureaucratic propaganda. “The Individual Shared Responsibility Provision” is a another way of saying a fine or tax (whichever word John Roberts wants to use today), for not having health insurance as mandated by Obamacare. Who thinks a phrase like, “individual shared responsibility provision”? That’s right, someone who is trying to deceive people. Just scan some of the language in this IRS publication, it will make you sick.

Amazing Ambulance Drone, at economicpolicyjournal.com. Ambulance drone gets to an emergency much quicker than an regular ambulance. Another interesting way to use technology.

Elon Musk To Build Hyperlink Track, Likely In Texas, by Jacob Pramuk, at entrepreneur.com. A system that transports people in pods through tubes at 600 mph. You could go from LA to San Fran in 30 minutes. Is this even possible?

NJ Turnpike I-95 Crash Black Ice Trailer Flip, at youtube.com.

Who was luckier, the guy taking the video or the truck driver being filmed?
