– If you were a number one draft choice, and you hired the republican leadership to negotiate your contract with the team that drafted you. You would probably have to pay the team a signing bonus to play for them.

– What a sweet deal Government workers have. They will receive back pay for not working for two weeks. Maybe they should ask for unemployment compensation to go along with their two week paid vacation.

– The republicans were convinced they would lose seats in the 2014 election if they continued the shutdown and didn’t extend the debt ceiling. The deal they agreed to just delays dealing with the problem for three months. I have to ask, If you were afraid of losing seats a year out from the election, how much more afraid will you be nine months out? Do you think the republicans will be more eager to surrender or fight?

– The administration wouldn’t pay death benefits to families of soldiers killed in combat during the shut down. When they finally passed the CR to fund Government, section 134 specifically gives a death benefit for the widow of Senator Frank Lautenberg (his net worth is $56.8 million). What’s the difference between being a serf and being member of the ruling aristocracy? A serf is used as a pawn to be sacrificed in the political chess game, and nothing can be denied what is the birth right of the ruling class.

– During the shut down, I heard people talk as if the Government is the economy. Question, does the Government produce what it consumes, or does the private sector produce everything and Government confiscates what it consumes? Who is the parasite and who is the host in this relationship?

– When a politician uses the phrase, “the American people” want or need or think something, he is presuming more knowledge about how individual Americans think than he can possibly know. It’s a phrase designed to stop arguments that are counter to his position, by claiming a majority agree with him.

-The shooting at the Washington Navy Yard begs the question. Besides MP’s, why aren’t military personnel, who are trained in the use of firearms, allowed to carry weapons on military installation? Did we not learn anything from the Fort Hood shootings? The only individuals armed at the Navy Yard and Fort Hood, other than the MP’s, were the two killers. Had other military personnel broken the law and carried a firearm, like the killers did, fewer people would have died.  “If it saves just one life, isn’t it worth it” to change this rule. This policy was apparently set in stone during the George H W Bush administration in 1992, read here,

-The IRS is the Government agency tasked to administer Obamacare. The National Treasury Employees Union, which represents IRS workers, wants an exemption from Obamacare for its members. Congressmen and their staffs passed Obamacare into law, now they have an exemption from Obamacare. The law is supposed to apply to everyone equally. Apparently some people are more equal than others.

-The President said that raising the debt ceiling won’t increase the debt. The simple fact that the Federal budget has yearly increases already built-in, and interest payments have to be paid on 1 trillion dollars of new debt incurred every year, proves he is either ignorant or a liar.

-If the Government takes $2.4 trillion in taxes from producers, and spends $3.7 trillion annually, that means that approximately 33 cents (actually it’s more), out of every dollar spent by Government is borrowed, whether it’s money spent to pay the president’s salary, or used to purchase paper clips. How many years would it take for you to go bankrupt if you borrowed 33cents out of every dollar you spent? How long would it take if you were allowed to counterfeit money?

-When the President compared the glitches in the health care exchange website to Apple having minor problems with iOS 7 mobile operating system, he forgot the most important difference between the two, which is Apple can’t force you to purchase their product while the Government is forcing you to purchase health care insurance. That simple difference produces incentives which changes how the supplier of the good or service deals with the consumer.

-The Government “shut down” is nothing more than a political game to see who can win the blame game. Any area of Government that can be shut down for the political benefit of the administration will be shut down at the expense of the public (the WWII memorial is an example). And any sob story created by the shut down will be trotted out in front of a compliant media for the political benefit of big Government politicians.

-If we involuntarily fund the Federal Government through taxes, how can the Government be more important than the private sector? The private sector produces what Government redistributes or consumes, and the Government produces nothing that the private sector wants or couldn’t produce more efficiently.

-I bet you tip waiters even if they provided lousy service, but you would never write a check to the Federal Government for one penny more than what your tax preparer said you owed in taxes.

-The Senate has not passed a budget to fund the Federal Government in five years, even though the House of Representatives has sent a budget to them every year. The Senate democrats actions tell us that they think they can gain more politically by having a yearly fight over passing a continuing resolution, than what they could gain by passing a budget.

-“Economist” Nancy Pelosi has stated in the past that, “…unemployment insurance is one of the biggest stimuluses to out economy….it is a job creator...” (watch video here). If that’s the case, we should have a permanent Government shutdown, layoff all Government employees,  give them unemployment compensation and sit back and let the stimulative effect of unemployment insurance create enough jobs to employ these furloughed workers.

– Why is the administration so worried about civilians being killed in Syria, when it wasn’t worried about the civilians being killed in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Yemen by our drone strikes? Would the President have been ok with Assad if he had killed the same amount of civilians with drone strikes?

– The President is going to congress to seek authorization for the use of force in Syria for three reasons that I can see. 1) If congress doesn’t give him authorization, he can use it as a reason not to go in. It would essentially be his get out of jail free card from the “crossing the red line” jail of his own making. 2) If congress passes a resolution of force, “he” is no longer out on a limb by himself, if “we” attack and it doesn’t workout. 3) The length of time it will take to get this authorization (congress is back in session Sept. 9th), will put this issue so far in the rear view mirror, it will be “old news”. All of these give the president plenty of political cover, and that’s the most important thing to a politician.

– Thomas Sowell uses a term, “thinking beyond stage one”, Frederic Bastiat uses, “that which is seen, and that which is not seen”, when talking about the unintended consequences of a particular action. When it comes foreign policy, I don’t think the administration sees the long-term consequences of their stage one thinking.

– Why would you put off the implementation of something as wonderful as Obamacare, unless its implementation wouldn’t be so wonderful for you politically.

– Do the fast food workers who went on strike for higher wages from their employers realize they are angry at the wrong group of people. They shouldn’t be angry at their employers, they should be angry at consumers for not being willing to pay a higher price. The consumer ultimately pays the worker’s salary, and has no obligation to consume the same amount at the higher price. Remember when the cost of anything goes up, there will be less of that activity, and labor is no exception.

– I think the President should appoint a member of The Lavender Hill Mob, as the next Federal Reserve Chairman.

– When people get upset that congress is taking another recess, or the President is taking another vacation or playing another round of golf, instead of working; I always tell them we would be better off, and it would be less expensive, if we paid them double and sent them on a paid vacation for the duration of their terms. They couldn’t intervene into our lives, and we would be just fine.

– Minority children are usually helped the most by school voucher programs. The Justice Department is trying to block the Louisiana school voucher program, on the grounds that some of these students are in districts that remain under desegregation orders, and these vouchers would impede the desegregation process. Real children’s futures sacrificed to an imaginary God.

– I don’t understand all the hand wringing about concussions in football. I figured out concussions were probably a bad thing when I was playing 8th grade football. I tried to tackle, or I couldn’t get out of the way of, a guy who out weighed me by 50 pounds. I saw the flash of light when we collided, or when he ran over me, and I knew that wasn’t good. Every one knows the risks of playing football, and each person weighs these risks against the benefits and either keeps playing or quits playing.

-The Affordable Care Act [Obama Care], was signed into law on March 23, 2010, its implementation was delayed until 2014 so the results wouldn’t affect the 2012 Presidential election. Now they are delaying the implementation until 2015. Does anyone want to take a guess what happens in 2014 that would make them want to delay this for a year? I’ve got an idea, let’s have an election every year so the implementation of Obama Care will be on a permanent one year delay.

-Intelligence Director James Clapper admits lying under oath, but he says he is sorry. This is like the ever popular get out of jail free card, “I take full responsibility for………” No one is ever held accountable for their actions even though they take responsibility for their actions. The ruling elite; which consists of politicians, bureaucrats, and Government employees, are never held to the same standard when they break the law compared to what we citizens deal with everyday from a basic speeding ticket at the local levels, to IRS regulations at the Federal level. Two sets of rules exist in this country, one set for the ruling aristocracy and another set for the serfs. At some point people will not comply.

-The Obama administration is proposing changes in The Freedom on Information Act . These changes would allow federal agencies to lie about the information being sought. When you control information you control individuals. I’m surprised the administration would even worry about changing the rules, they have a track record of not abiding by rules in the first place. If no one holds them responsible for breaking the law, they will keep doing it, just like the dog that isn’t disciplined for peeing on your carpet, will keep peeing on the carpet.

-In all the scandals from Fast and Furious, the IRS targeting tea party groups, the confiscating of reporters electronic communications, the NSA data mining, the Benghazi fiasco, and many others, the administration says these were the fault of low-level employees, and the administration didn’t know anything about what they were doing. If they don’t have enough knowledge to control the Government apparatus, how is it possible for them to have enough knowledge to control the free market. The amount of knowledge needed to even begin to understand what is going on in the free market is exponentially bigger than the amount of knowledge needed to control Government.

-Our favorite  rock stars played in front of packed houses back in the day, now thirty years later they are playing in small clubs for hundreds of people. President Obama spoke in front of 250,000 in Germany before his first election, he was lucky to get  20 thousand two weeks ago for a speech at the same venue. It’s only been five years, either the presidency prematurely ages you, or the thrill is gone.

-Do people who condemn the U.S. for force feeding prisoners who are on hunger strikes at Guantanamo Bay realize the alternative is letting them starve to death?

-The President lectured on constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from ’92 to ’04. After watching the way he has used the constitution as toilet paper or a cape, I hope his students either got F’s or withdrew from the class.

The administration that thinks it’s a good idea to give Syrian rebels weapons in their fight against a better armed Assad Government, is the same administration that thinks it’s a bad idea for law-abiding citizens to possess or carry a weapon in order to defend themselves  against armed criminals.

Many wring their hands about violating the rights of  “illegal aliens” because law enforcement  is “targeting” them, but it doesn’t bother these people when the IRS violates the first, fourth, and fifth amendment rights of legal citizens on a daily basis.

On Russia Today television Former KGB agent turned Russian President Vladimir Putin disagreed with President Obama’s statement “that you can’t have 100% security and 100% privacy”, saying,  it is possible if done within the law. (Isn’t this bass ackwards. Aren’t we the country that was founded on the rule of law.)

Because the Assad regime has crossed the Presidents “red line” on the use of chemical weapons, the White House is now going to arm the Syrian Rebels. Will arming the rebels take care of the chemical weapons problem?

Individuals from China and Russia used to seek asylum in the U.S. when they ran afoul of their tyrannical Government. Now an individual from the U.S., Edward Snowden, is seeking asylum in China or Russia because he ran afoul of our tyrannical Government. Someone please wake me up!

The Affordable Care Act was 2500 pages. The immigration bill is pushing 1000 pages. These pages are great places for politicians to hide benefits for some groups, and costs for other groups, simply because it is impossible to read and decipher that much information in a timely fashion. This is similar to document dumping by lawyers.

Kathleen Sebelius won’t intervene for the ten-year old girl who was wanting to get on the adult list for a lung transplant. The age requirement is twelve years old to be on the adult list. Two points before a final point. 1) Sebelius is applying the rule of law in this case, even though she ignores the rule of law when it doesn’t work in her favor. 2) A judge intervened and the ten-year old received the transplant, but what about the unseen person who is now further down the donor list and may die because the ten-year old got placed higher up the list. Final point) This is just a glimpse of what the Affordable Care Act is going to look like, medical decisions are going to be taken out of the hands of the patients and the doctors, and placed in the hand of a bureaucrat. You better not be on the wrong side of a “bureaucrat extraordinaire” like Lois Lerner (IRS) if she’s the one making decisions on your health care.
