Geithner: “I Never Had A Real Job”. Another Example Of Intellectual Inbreeding.

January 28, 2013

In my previous post Federal Reserve Policy Makers Have An Incestuous Intellectual Relationship With Each Other, we talked about how our political aristocracy and the intellectual elite have no knowledge outside of their vision of the world, a vision which was inbreed into them by their education, their job, and the people with whom they associate. This video, from economicpolicyjournal.com, is an example.

SELF PROCLAIMED INTELLIGENCE

The interesting part of this video is Geithner’s inability to realize his narrow experience is a bad thing. Going from grad school directly to the Treasury, then spending the rest of your professional life in a policy job, isn’t a recipe for developing a wide base of knowledge on which to make policy decisions. The policies they come up with won’t work anywhere outside of the sterile intellectual laboratory that exists only in the minds (more…)

Federal Reserve Policy Makers Have An Incestuous Intellectual Relationship With Each Other.

The Federal Reserve: The Biggest Scam In History

This article, “A Bold Dissenter At The Fed, Hoping His Doubts Are Wrong”, by Binyamin Applebaum in The NY Times, is an example of , what Thomas Sowell calls, “credentialed ignorance”. He is being rather nice because I would call it an example of intellectual inbreeding. These Federal Reserve policy makers have earned their economic credentials from some of the “best” Universities, and we should stand in awe of them. Unfortunately I don’t give my respect to people with “status” that easily. I think respect is something that is earned, and just because they have a particular position or status in the political or intellectual world, doesn’t mean they should get my respect. What I have observed is that these people live in a continual feed back loop. They all think (more…)

“The Structural Endgame of the Fiscal Cliff”, by Charles Hugh Smith.

Ready to collapse.  (Photo credit: gbaku)

This article, The Structural Endgame of the fiscal Cliff, at peakprosperity.com, by Charles Hugh Smith, whose site is oftwominds.com, is the sober reality about where we really are economically and politically as a nation. When our political leaders say “the wealthy among us have to pay their fair share” they are trying to get you to think that the primary reason the Government is in so much debt is because these “wealthy” aren’t taxed enough. Like a magician trying to get you to look over here while the exchange is taking place over there, these spend thrift politicians hammer the “wealthy” as greedy because, for some crazy reason, they don’t want to pay more in taxes than what they are legally bound to pay, while these same politicians who greedily spend 1.3 trillion dollars more than they take in taxes, are being ignored, as the primary reason for the debt problem.   Here are some quotes from the article. Milton Freidman, Moving Toward Serfdom.

January 11, 2013

Not much more can be added to what is said in this video. This video I’m sure was made in the 80’s, how much farther down the road do you think we are today.

Here is an excerpt from the video, “We are getting what the public at large is asking for, and the public is asking for it , I believe, because they do not understand where it’s going to lead them, because they are misinformed and they are being led that way.”

We have to get people to understand that government regulation takes away individual freedom no matter how insignificant we may think a regulation is.

Marine Cpl’s Letter To Sen. Feinstein About Her Proposed “Assult” Weapons Legislation.

January 9, 2013

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston

The Government’s continual interventions into the life of individuals is reaching a point where people are starting to push back or threaten non compliance. As Government grows, its tentacles  start to reach more and more areas of our lives. As more people are affected by Government regulations, each individual reaches a point where they decide that they have had enough. It is not the last straw that breaks the camels back, it is the accumulation of all the incremental straws, combined with the last straw that breaks the camels back, this is the law of marginal utility, read more here. Each individual has a different level of tolerance before he will push back against what is pushing against him. (more…)

Walter E. Williams, The Free Market Is Not Allowed To Work.

January 7, 2013

From the video, “When H.L. Mencken was asked what is the definition of an election he said, and I quote,”Government is a broker in pillage, and every election is an advance auction on the sale of stolen goods”.”

If the intervention of Government into the market could be limited to the theft of our production through taxation, our economy wouldn’t be in as bad a condition as it is. Government couldn’t have grown as intrusive as it has, if it was limited to spending only what it steals in taxes, and because it would (more…)

A Look Behind The Curtain At The Fiscal Cliff Political Theater, The Joke’s On You!

In a previous post, Fiscal Cliff? or Political Theater? I said, “The fiscal cliff political theater being preformed on the Washington D.C. stage is just that, a performance. It is not being performed for the benefit of the audience, it is being performed for the benefit of the actors.

I should have said, “the political actors, the politically connected, and the media” because all of them benefit at our expense. We have to understand this joke, known as the fiscal cliff, is on us. While we were watching this political theater, the back stage workers were in the parking lot breaking into our cars stealing whatever they could, and were also picking the pockets of the audience during intermission. Canadian PM Poilievre Talks Economic Sense About The U.S. And The E.U.

December 28, 2012

This is the kind of common sense that Americans used to be noted for. It sounds like Mr. Poilievre is battling the same socialist thinking that liberty minded people in the U.S., have been trying to hold the line against for decades. I wish more of our politicians had the kind of brass that this man has.

0-3:40 is about the U.S. problem.   4:39-6:00 is about Europe’s problems.   6:00-7:20 is a must.

Here are a few quotes from the speech.  (more…)

Walter E. Williams; Free Market Capitalism Produces A Higher Standard Of Living For Everyone.

December 25, 2012

Even though it is not planned by any particular person or group of people, the outcome of the free market process can be seen all around us in the incredible standard of living we enjoy. When our country’s main health problem is obesity and not malnutrition, and it seems that everyone owns a cell phone, we are rather well off as a country.

The main problem we face now and moving forward is, will we allow free market capitalism to continue to increase our standard of living, or because we don’t like how wealth is “distributed” as a result of this process, will we (more…)

Why Doesn’t The “King” Want His Kingdom To Be Prosperous?

This article, “Robber Barony: Obama Energy Policy By Another Name” by Paul Driessen at Masterresource.com. is a must read. After you read it you will ask the question, why would the President want the country to decline economically? This article talks about how the energy boom in the U.S. is poised to lead the economy out of the doldrums, if the administration will get out-of-the-way and let it happen. This should be what everyone is talking about instead of the political theater known as the “fiscal cliff“.

How can an administration be taken seriously about wanting to improve the economy, when they are going to confiscate (more…)
