Fed Finally Figures Out Soaring Student Debt Is Reason For Exploding College Costs, at zerohedge.com. The Fed has figured out that when money, from debt and money printing, is injected into a particular area of the economy, it raises the price (creates a bubble). Does this revelation hold true for all of the Feds printed money that has gone into the stock market?

The Doctor Won’t See You Now, at Forbes.com.  The laws of economics will be strictly obeyed.  The money quote from the article, “Many exchange policies limit patients’ choices of doctors and hospitals in order to keep premiums down in the face of Obamacare’s intrusive regulations and costly mandates.”  Who could have predicted that?

Navajo Nation Vows To Hold EPA Accountable, at zerohedge.com.  The EPA is responsible for releasing 1 Million, 3 Million gallons of toxic waste water into Colorado’s Animus River.  Like all Government agencies they are currently blaming the contractor for the accident.  Tough luck for New Mexico and Utah who are downstream from the toxic release.  I haven’t heard a peep from the media or environmental groups about this.  I guess it’s neither illegal nor a big deal if the government does it.  I wish the Navajo nation good luck in any lawsuit.  It’s great to be the tyrant, king!

Did EPA Intentionally Poison Animus River To Secure SuperFund Money?, at zerohedge.com.  It appears that a retired geologist predicted that the EPA would foul the Animus River a week before it actually occurred.  The implications of his accusations are chilling.  Never let a good crisis go to waste?

The Battle Intensifies: Police Raid Uber’s Hong Kong Office, at economicpolicyjournal.com.  Car Wars! Return of the Jitneys continues.  At this point, a rational government would realize they can’t put the genie back in the bottle.  Protecting special interests always trumps rationality but it can’t defeat the basic laws of economics.

Going Breadless in Venezuela, at economicpolicyjournal.com.  Socialism and price controls rear their ugly head again as bread shortages are the new norm in Venezuela.  Weren’t there food riots last week?  Don’t they have a toilet paper shortage as well?  Hey, let them eat cake!  Sorry, that’s reserved for the rulers.

Minimum Wage Effect?, at Carpe Diem Blog.  January to June job losses for Seattle area restaurants reaches 1300.  While there are many reasons for declining employment, artificially raising the price of labor means you will have less of it.  Businesses must make adjustments to increased costs.  My guess is that one unintended consequence will be less tipping for servers.

China’s Currency Policy: Devastating Manipulation or a Form of Generous Foreign Aid to Americans?, at Carpe Diem Blog.  This is a very different take on China’s recent efforts to devalue their currency.  Government intervention in currency whether it is printing counterfeit money, zero point interest rates, fractional reserve banking, or devaluing will always have unforeseen and negative consequences.  As for devaluing currency, how do you jump off a cliff halfway?

The Disturbing Messages In Police Recruiting Videos, at The Washington Post.  You don’t have to watch all the videos to get the point.  Why would you stress violent confrontation in your recruiting videos?  Even the Marine Corps doesn’t do that and they have the best military recruiting videos bar none.  If it is part of the recruiting tactics then it is likely the emphasis of their training.  When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.  Make sure you check out the last recruiting video by the Decatur Alabama police.  Quite the difference!

Serfdom USA!, at economicpolicyjournal.com.  Let’s end the week with some laughs.  This is for all of the true Austrian Economics Addicts out there.

Milton Friedman – Socialism Is Force!

Organizing a society via the force of central planning whether it take the form of monarchy, dictatorship, socialism, communism, fascism, or a democratically elected big government is very appealing to the people who are in charge of doing the planning. Or, in the case of democratically elected big government, it also appeals to the people who have been convinced that they are on the side of the planners they elected. As our country moves ever closer toward central planning, more force will have to be used to achieve the planners goals. This will produce more contention between people, which leads to less cooperation and more chaos.

Milton Friedman explains this in the video below.

Here is an excerpt.

“Trying to do good with methods that involve force lead to bad results. Because the people who set out with good intentions are themselves corrupted. And if they’re not corrupted they are replaced with people with bad intentions who are more efficient at getting control of the use of force……The most harm of all is done when power is in the hands of people who are absolutely persuaded of the purity of their intentions.”

Here is a quote from Murrray Rothbard:

“The market promotes and rewards the skills of production and voluntary cooperation. The Government enterprise promotes the skills of mass coercion and bureaucratic submission…and those who get to the top will be those with the most skill in that particular task.”

Why Won’t People Watch The Planned Parenthood Videos?

Posted August 5, 2015 by austrianaddict

The most recent video from the Center for Medical Progress has been released. I’ve watched every one of them. What I have a hard time understanding is why more people haven’t watched them? What are they afraid of? Almost all of the people I have talked to about the videos say “I can’t watch that”. My response is; “why”? They usually just restate a different version of, “I can’t watch that”. I guess they mean they will become physically sick if they watch. People don’t want to watch because they truly don’t want to know what goes on in these abortion mills. They want to remain selfishly comfortable in their current position on abortion. No matter how ignorant or informed it may be.

KEEP YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND

I’ve thought about their reactions and it reminds me of how the German citizens put their head in the sand when the Jews were being slaughtered. I remember the scene in “Band Of Brothers” when the Americans made the Germans ,from the nearby town, go to the concentration camp and clean up the dead bodies.

5th PLANNED PARENTHOOD VIDEO

Here is the 5th video about Planned Parenthood trafficking in fetal body parts.  I hope this particular video doesn’t have a ‘content warning’ on it by the time I post this. This 5th video on the Center for Medical Progress site, has a ‘content warning’ on it.

Will Planned Parenthood be investigated for breaking the law about trafficking in fetal body parts? No chance! They are politically connected. The force of the IRS was brought to bare on liberty groups, but nothing will happen to PPH. There is at least enough evidence in these videos to start an investigation into their lawbreaking.

Walter E. Williams: Common Sense

Walter E. Williams is one of the best at explaining concepts, abstract or other wise, to people who aren’t on his level of knowledge about economics and liberty. Being able to communicate clearly is his great talent. Here is a video I saw at libertypenblog.blogspot.com. It is Dr. Williams at his best.

Excerpts from the video.

“If you tax something your going to get less of it, and if you subsidize it your going to get more of it. What we’ve been doing is subsidizing slovenly behaviour.”

“I often tell people that I am very very happy that I got virtually all of my education before it became fashionable for white people to like black people. So what that meant is that when I got a ‘C, it was an honest to God ‘C’. When I got an ‘A’, it was an honest to God ‘A’. They weren’t practicing Affirmative action and they didn’t give a damn about my self-esteem.

“Americans have lost their love for the American Constitution, and I believe they’re either ignorant or they have contempt for the United States Constitution. Ignorance is curable, but contempt is not.

Happy 103rd Birthday Milton Friedman, by Mark J. Perry, at carpediemblog. Yesterday was Milton Friedman’s birthday. Milton Friedman had a talent for explaining complex economic concepts in a way that regular people like me were able to understand. This post by Mark J. Here is the full episode with Friedman on the Donahue show. This is a great lesson on how to talk to a leftist.

Observations From The Margin: Planned Parenthood, and Abortion.

Posted July 30, 2015 by austrianaddict
Categories: Observations From The Margin

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Here is the third video from The Center for Medical Progress, about Planned Parenthood selling aborted baby organs. This one is tougher to watch than the other two.

OBSERVATIONS

-As I watched the videos about Planned Parenthood harvesting and selling baby organs, I began to understand how the Germans were able to preform experiments on the Jews. They considered the Jews “sub human” as asserted in German policies and laws. And we all know that if it’s a Government policy and/or law, it’s gospel! They killed their conscience over time.

-The 23-year-old procurement technician fainted her first day on the job. When she awoke, she was told: “oh, you’re new huh? Don’t worry, it still happens to a bunch of us. Yeah some of us don’t ever get over it“. The fact that this happens to some of these workers means their conscience is telling them there is something a little wrong about what they are doing. In my experience, when my conscience tells me something is a little wrong, it usually turns out to be a lot wrong. I guess some of them haven’t completely killed their conscience: Yet.

-As I watched the video, I couldn’t figure out how the 23-year-old procurement technician didn’t know what to expect at the abortion clinic. The fact that she is 23 and I was in high school when the Roe v Wade decision became law answers my question. She has grown up in an age where the media and our entertainment culture paint the pro-life side as anti women, and the pro-choice side as heroes standing up against these lunatics. She probably had never heard nor seen what an actual abortion really is. My whole high school was shown a video of an actual abortion. It’s not hard to know what an abortion is after you see one. Why do you think the pro abortion side fights so hard to squash videos like these?

-Why would Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood, apologize for the tone and statements of her staff members who were shown on the video? All they were doing was talking callously about a blob of tissue. It wasn’t like they were talking about a life?

-I know it’s illegal to traffic in fetal tissue. But why is it illegal if it’s a blob of tissue and not a life? Instead of donating the fetal tissue, why shouldn’t these women be paid for what essentially is their property? I know it is illegal to sell your organs, like one of your kidneys, but fetal tissue is not a womans organ. Should the evil non profit corporation Planned Parenthood be allowed to use these women to make money? Shouldn’t Congress pass a law that redistributes some of the wealth of Planned Parenthood to the women who actually supply the raw material that PPH sells?

-The talking point that apologists are using to defend the actions of Planned Parenthood is;  ‘the video was highly edited to show Planned Parenthood in a bad light’. But The Center for Medical Progress released the full videos along with the documentary videos. When you want to use an edit to show someone in a bad light, you never release the full video. The main stream media knows this, it’s their standard operating procedure.

-Should your tax dollars go to fund Planned Parenthood when this “non-profit” organization gets major funding from corporations like Avon, Microsoft, Bank of America, Fannie Mae, Macy’s, Starbucks, and Nike to name a few, (more here)?

-I google searched ‘Cecil the lion’ and got 39.5 million results. I google searched ‘Planned Parenthood selling baby body parts’ and there were 1.67 million results. Is this a reflection of the media not supplying the Planned Parenthood story, or of people not demanding the story? Read this article, Planned Parenthood Tells Reporters To Suppress Coverage, Reporters Happily Agree.

Here is the fourth video from The Center for Medical Progress.

The Newest Obamacare Fail: Penalties of $36,500 Per Worker, at economicpolicyjournal.com. This new IRS penalty is a result of different interpretations of the Affordable Care Act. Or is it a money grab by the IRS. We should not be surprised that a 2500 page bill that allows bureaucrats to make more laws as they desire could be interpreted differently by the IRS. Since the IRS had to be expanded to enforce the Obamacare fine/tax, logic would follow that they have to find more money law breakers to justify their existence. Because there wasn’t enough money mined from the tax payers as only 6.6 Million Americans Were Forced To Pay The Individual Mandate Tax In 2014 for a total of only $1.2 billion. That’s chump change when you’re talking 3 plus trillion in government spending.

Ted Cruz Tells The Truth About McConnell, Reid, The Senate, and Crony Capitalism

Posted July 27, 2015 by austrianaddict
Categories: Government and Politics, Hall of Fame

Tags: , , , , , , ,

Last Friday Senator Ted Cruz took to the floor of the Senate and did something very few politicians do, he told the truth. He tells it like it is about republican majority leader Mitch McConnell, minority leader Harry Reid, career politicians in both parties, republican leadership, how the Senate operates, the Export Import bank, and the crony capitalist corporate welfare system our Government has become. He pulls back the curtain and allows us to see what really goes on in congress, although many of us have a good idea. Here is the video of his speech. Watch it all. It is one of the best you will ever see and hear.

Here are some excerpts:

“The majority and minority leader, arm and arm, should not team up against the American tax payers.”

“we loot the taxpayer to benefit wealthy powerful corporations.”

“Do you know what he (McConnell) didn’t bring up (for a vote). Is my amendment to end the congressional exemption from Obamacare the corrupt deal Harry Reid cut with President Obama to exempt members of congress. We ought to live under the same rules as everyone else. But the majority leader doesn’t want to vote on that.”

CONSLUSION

Ted Cruz should be applauded for standing up to power. I’m sure Senator McConnell will not say anything about what Ted Cruz said in hopes that it will go away quickly. McConnell will not forget this and will pick his spot to chop the legs out from under Cruz. Probably after Ted Cruz finds a horse head in his bed.

I’ve said this before but it is worth repeating. The battle is not between the R and the D. The battle is between big government central planners in both parties and each individual citizen. We should not allow ourselves to be split up into groups and pitted against each other for their political gain. We should consider ourselves one big gang of individuals who all want the same thing, Government out of our lives. We should be free to make our own decisions and not be dictated to. A gang of individuals couldn’t be ignored by politicians.

As Ted Cruz stated, “the majority and minority leader, arm in arm, should not team up against the American people“. It is time for us to team up and force politicians to shrink government.
